Almost all camper hire in Tenerife is concentrated in the south of the island, near Tenerife Sur airport. That makes sense: it's where most flights land. But if your plan is to explore the north — Anaga, La Laguna, Puerto de la Cruz, Teide from its northern side — starting your trip in the south means kicking off with a good hour of driving before you see your first landscape.
Slow Campers is based in El Sauzal, a quiet town in the north of Tenerife, just a hop from Tenerife Norte airport (Los Rodeos) and La Laguna. You pick up your camper here and within minutes you're already heading towards where you actually want to go.
What's within reach from El Sauzal
- The Anaga massif, with its laurel forests and villages perched over the sea, less than an hour away.
- Teide, accessible via the northern road (TF-21), with less traffic than the route from the south.
- The north coast: Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava, Garachico and Icod de los Vinos, all a short distance away.
- Santa Cruz and La Laguna, the island's two liveliest cities, without needing to cross Tenerife from end to end.
Picking up in the north, without the queues of the south
By not operating near the main tourist airport, you avoid the crush of hire vans and cars that clogs the southern zone in high season. Pick-up is relaxed, with time for us to talk you through the camper calmly before you head off.

We're not an aggregator pulling together vans from private owners, nor a chain with the same model repeated a hundred times over. Every camper in our fleet is a classic Volkswagen that we convert ourselves, right here in El Sauzal, and that we check over before every hire.
