Tenerife North or South airport: which suits your camper trip

Slow Campers Volkswagen T4 on a forest road, on the way to El Sauzal

Tenerife has two airports, and which one you land at makes quite a difference to your first day if you're coming to pick up a camper. Here's the real difference between the two.

Tenerife Norte airport (Los Rodeos)

It's in La Laguna, just a stone's throw from El Sauzal — barely 10 minutes' drive from our base. If your flight lands here, your camper trip starts almost as soon as you step off the plane.

Tenerife Sur airport (Reina Sofía)

It's at the opposite end of the island: getting to El Sauzal from here means more than an hour on the road. It's no big deal if you don't mind crossing Tenerife on day one, but if the plan is to start light, it's worth knowing before you book your flight.

Why this matters more than it seems

Most camper hire on the island is concentrated near the South airport — logical, since it's where most flights land. But if your plan is the north — Anaga, the coast, Teide from its northern side — starting in the south means that long hour of driving before you see your first landscape. By hiring in El Sauzal, you head straight north without that extra first stretch.

If you'd rather we bring it to you

If you still end up landing in the South, or you'd simply rather not travel to El Sauzal, we offer airport pick-up and drop-off on request: €40 at Tenerife Norte or €80 at Tenerife Sur. Send us your flight details before booking and we'll arrange it.

Check which airport your flight lands at

Not all routes land at the same airport — confirm with your airline which one applies to you before arranging pick-up, especially if you're coming from another Canary Island or connecting flights.
